On the first of the month, per normal practice, Micro-Trains announced three new pre-orders for their new "anniversary series". I ordered all three from wig-wag trains, a New Mexico N Scale store whom I have used since before I left California in 2005.
I rarely order train cars any more. As I've noted, I have so freaking many, which I love. It has to be special for me to make an exception. But these were special. First, I run all three railroads: BNSF (my main railroad), CP (one of the most common "other lines" on my railroad) and Amtrak (it makes daily appearances - this will be a nice car to add to the consist). Second, they did a good job on them. Third, the Wig-Wag price is not bad considering the massive inflation in the last 15 years in N-Scale.
I like supporting Micro-Trains, they are so important to N Scalers. Sadly, in the past few years they've produced relatively little that people with modern-themed layouts who don't run a lot of cutsey-poo trains (like their current "Solar System" line) will actually buy. But they build good stuff and are a big part of N Scale.
